"This is my second year as acting President and I have
enjoyed every minute of it! As alot of you know, I grew up
riding in Kitsap County and have taught many kids to ride
since I was 14 years old. My family has been by my side
from day one. Mom and Dad have been by biggest
cheerleaders! Now I am President of the club that I have
looked up to and been apart of for years! What a wonderful
feeling! I promise to work hard to help those who want to be
apart of something they love. I wish everyone could
experience the wonderful adventures I have had the
blessing to experience. Such as traveling to Europe and
training under one of the greats, to being a demo rider for
Steffan Peters. Taking in all the fantastic instruction has
allowed me to turn around and hand it down to those I
teach. Passing it on is a big part of philosophy!"

Vice President

As your new Vice President, I am looking forward to the
opportunity to serve as Meghan's 'right hand man' and
help out wherever I am needed. As far as my history
with horses, I have been around horses off and on from
the time I was a child.  I spent most of my youth on my
grandfather's cattle ranch in Oklahoma where I learned
how to 'gentle' horses, as my grandfather called it. After
spending 6 years in the military as a photographer, I
moved to Seattle in 1981 and have been here ever since.
I met Carrie in 1990, we moved to Port Orchard in 1993
and I got back into horses. At 51 I still haven't figured
out what I want to be when I grow up, but for now I'm
building hot rods and training horses using 'natural
horsemanship methods' and having a blast doing it! I
Hopefully I will see you at one of the meetings or shows
this year....I will be easy to spot as men make up less
than 3 percent of the United States Dressage Federation,
and I'll likely be riding a Paint!

Treasurer
CarrieWhitlow
Turtlehors@aol.com
Hello Lower Puget Sound Dressage Club! I am your
new treasurer and clinic coordinator. I have a long
history of amateur riding, starting as an 8 year old, and
obtained through my C3 rating in Olympus Pony Club
on Vashon Island.  I enjoy a variety of equine activities,
including dressage, 3 day eventing and trail rides.
When I am not riding, I work as a Vocational
Rehabilitation Counselor for Strategic Consulting Inc. I
have done this type of work for 16 years. I have my
Bachelor Degree in Psychology from the University of
Washington and Master Degree from Western
Washington University in Rehabilitation Counseling. I
have been a treasurer for another organization - Clan
Guthrie USA for the past 15 or 16 years. There are
350-400 members in that organization. I look forward to
serving as your treasurer and would appreciate your
input regarding future clinicians. We are looking
forward to having Sonja Vracko back next month,
Jennifer Williams will be coming in April, and we have
Mike Osinski lined up for October. Hope to meet/see
you all at one of these clinics!

Howdy Everyone!  Two years ago I was elected club
secretary and have been publishing our newsletter since
October, 2007.  I live in Gig Harbor with my family, but was
born and raised in Sweden. I started riding in Sweden when I
was six years old but, never owned my own horse until I
bought The Arsonist, a half arabian, 1999. He just had his
30th birthday in March! Needless to say, you won’t be seeing
him in the dressage arena with me, but in the picture is
Midnite Sultana, my 15 year old Arabian-Saddlebred cross
and work in progress. Meghan Markham and Jennifer
Williams are doing a great job coaching us, and we will be
showing 1st level this show season. I have been member of
LPSDC for over 5 years and I’m really grateful for all the
opportunities it gives me and Midnite to go locally for shows
and clinics. I so appreciate all the hard working, dedicated
officers and volunteers! As the newsletter editor I would love
to hear from all of you with stories, trivia and pictures. So as
you participate in our shows and clinics, or maybe others,
write me a note and send me the pictures and I promise you
will be published! Happy trails!
